THE BAND

Bittersweet Descent, based in Westchester, NY, was formed in 2022 after various collaborations brought its musicians together. Currently comprised of Mark Grossman, Krisana Soponpong, Jamie Altieri, and Pat DeBallonia, the band's primary focus is crafting and performing original, genre-busting, high-energy material with which any audience can instantly connect. Live shows are peppered with covers of alternative and classic rock bands, along with folk-rock, country, and punk covers. BSD just headed back to Woodside Productions in Peekskill, NY, and recorded drum tracks for sixteen new songs that will be released throughout the spring, summer, and fall of 2024. Between December 2022 and April 2023, the band, with drummer Jesse Weiss, recorded a six-song EP at Woodside Productions. That EP, entitled Clarity, is currently available for streaming on all platforms. In 2022, Grossman released six singles as a solo project, all of which are available on streaming platforms under his name.

Vincent "Jamie" Altieri

// guitar, vocals

A veteran of the local Bronx and Westchester music scene, born from at least 2 generations of guitarists and musicians, Jamie started playing piano at the age of 10.  Upon hearing the grunge rock of the early 90’s scene, he immediately switched to guitar in 1994 and never looked back.  Joining his first band Powder at the age of 18, he recorded his first demo at Prime Time Studios in Pelham.  Powder eventually morphed into Coverstory in 2001, then Falling Down (taking lead vocal duties) in 2012.  Other bands/credits include Bronx based Famous Shamus since the early 2000’s, and most recently the Drunkin Goats and the B-Side Band.  Jamie has also written and recorded original music, blending a mix of rock, hip hop, and R&B with the band Chemistry, who were active in the local NYC scene from 2008-2012.  A product of multiple influences, including classic jangle rock, 70’s hard rock, folk, 80’s pop, old-skool hip hop, 90’s grunge and alternative, early house and techno, as well as modern neu-metal, Jamie brings a variety of eclectic styles to each project he is involved in.

Mark Grossman

// acoustic guitar, vocals

Mark performed as a solo acoustic act around the lower Hudson Valley and western Connecticut intermittently over the last two decades. Now, he is loving this band thing.

Mark’s original music has been deeply influenced by Bob Mould, James McMurtry, REM, Trey Anastasio, The Cure, and Will Hoge, among others.
